………..HIgh School Football….

Quick question….Do people care about high school football being shown on Friday nights? My personal opinion, is absolutely. I think people care about high school football and the highlights.

Why? Because 80 percent of the viewing base, grew up in middle Tennessee. And even though you won’t admit it, you care about what your high school did, 5, 10, 20, 30 years etc, after you have left. You probably don’t know a single player, but you might know one coach, or two and you will have a sense of pride knowing that is your alma mater, whether you say it or not.

High school football is very, very important to us in the sports department. Those kids and coaches and trainers and managers and the bands are working hard to do the best they can do, each and every Friday night. We might not get every game on and every score on, but we will ge highlights, we will get plays and hopefully mom and dad and aunts and uncles and grandpa’s and grammy’s will go home and turn on channel 2 and catch the highlights and see their son or nephew score, or see their daughter in the band when we show reactions.

Anyway, it is a fired up time for us to hit the streets all over middle Tennessee to get these games, each and every Friday. If you want to call us with a score, call us at 615-369-7240, or 615-369-7238 or email us at sports@wkrn.com.

Thanks again and look forward to seeing everyone out and about each Friday night.

For the record, I say the Titans start Volek or Collins on 1st down, then put Young in if it is more than 2nd and 7. If less than that leave them in for one more down, but if they need more than 5 yards on 3rd down, put Young in. He’ll keep the defense more honest with his propensity to run on a pass down. Either that or be the first team to have two QB’s in the backfield at once. Young as a flanker of sorts, but he could still take the snap if they bypass the QB under center. It would be wildly exciting.

I’m glad Eddie George is back with us…too bad he is not on the field. I think if the Titans doesn’t have a better season, it is time for Fisher and Reese to go. I think they have made some bad decisions and be backstabbers. I thought Fisher said he would give each (4) quarterbacks a quarter to play, but once again he has stabbed Volek in the back. If Volek does leave I wish him the best and hopefully he will come back to Nashville and WIN and make Fisher look BAD. GOOD LUCK BILLY!

I’m pretty sure I remember you throwing the football during the halftime of one of my games. I better not catch you doing that again, or I will throw you down just like Robbie Bueno used to do.
