Titans will win Sunday
Seeing practice and being in the lockeroom this week I’m calling for a Titans win Sunday against the Cowboys. The Titans left Miami with a sour taste in their mouths and I feel it is the perfect recipe for a win Sunday. Another reason I feel they’ll win Sunday is that the lockeroom has been a jovial place this week. When lockerooms are loose, good things happen. Let me also throw in the fact that the Cowboys had a plethora of distractions this week and play at Philly next week(TO’s return to the city that hates him). They probably think they can show up at LP Field and pick up an easy win.
Maybe I’m being too optimistic. And, I’ll be man enough to take the punches if the Cowboys win.
See you Sunday on Sports Xtra at 10:30pm where we go 1-on-1 with Jeff Fisher.
ASK THE COACH QUESTIONS MIAMI 13-TITANS 10
No matter how you look at the Titans 3rd loss in a row to open up the season, it was ugly for both teams. The fact is the Titans had more than enough chances to take this game, but 2 Kerry Collins interceptions, a fumble by Bo Scaife at the Dolphins 2 yard line and a number of penalities, like the one on Pac-Man Jones Punt Return for a Touchdown, kept the Titans from there first victory of the season. The Titans Defense did their part in this game holding the Phins to only one touchdown! No question the offense looked better as the game went along.
Collins threw for 269 yards and connected with Bo Scaife for his 1st Touchdown of the season, but still looked out of sync and behind on throws with a number of his receivers. Travis Henry looked great at times in the first half piling up over 50 yards, but only finished the game with 60 yards on 21 carries!
Just how much longer do the Titans continue with Kerry Collins, thinking he is the best chance for this team to win, before it’s time to let Vince Young take his licks in his rookie season? Number 10 didn’t see the field in Sunday’s loss. Some will argue that the Titans could be 2-1, but they are not! They are 0-3 and 1-12 in road games since November of 2004. If you have a question for Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher please post a comment below.
TITANS MAKE RIGHT CHOICE
Don’t get too teary eyed over Billy Volek’s departure. I don’t have a problem with the man as a person. But as an NFL quarterback he is not all that. I’ve got facts to back it up: He has started 10 games in the NFL and won 3 against bad teams at the time. The Titans traded Billy for a 6th round draft pick. Don’t you think if he was that good the Titans would have received more than a 6th rounder? Billy would have been the starter if he had not gone to Jeff Fisher and asked for a trade after the Titans signed Kerry Collins. But he wanted out and Fisher made the right call by not playing a quarterback who wanted out.
As for Vince Young; who do you want tutoring this young stud? A guy who has won 3 games and started only 10? Or a guy who has thrown for over 33 thousand yards and piloted a team to the Super Bowl? I know Collins looks awful right now, but I feel Titans have picked the best tutor for Young. Let’s be honest. Vince is the future and needs a guy who’s been there done that. Volek has not been there done that.

………..GOODBYE BILLY!!!…
As we first told you Monday night at 10, ahem, Billy Volek will be traded Tuesday to the San Diego Chargers for 6th round draft pick.
Ok, good for Billy but there are several questions here. One, they said this deal was in the works for two weeks and they wanted to wait until the two teams played each other before the trade went thru. Coach Fisher told us that no one, not one person, in the Titans organization had talked to San Diego at all. He has said this on several occasions.
Evidently, they have been talking awhile, so Coach Fisher, why lie? Why not just say, ‘Billy is going to be traded, to who, we don’t know yet,’ and leave it at that. Why lie, your team stinks, your job is on the hot seat, you and Floyd Reese’s drafts since 2001 have been absolutely horrible, I mean they have stunk so bad, it would make a landfill smell like the makeup counter at Dillards. Plus, Norm Chow is the MOST OVERRATED OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR IN THE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL! Enough said, he is just plain bad, like this team.
But congrats to Billy Volek. He has played the good soldier, kept his mouth shut and done his job. Billy goes from possibly one of the worst NFL teams in the last 20 years, yep, the last 20 years, to a Super Bowl contender in a city that is just simply beautiful and a Charger team that is going somewhere and that is passionate about winning.
Somewhere right now, you know Billy Volek is laughing and laughing hysterically. See you at Super Bowl XLI in Miami, Billy.
And to Coach Fisher and Floyd Reese, better call Crye-Leike, I hear it is a seller’s market now.

Ask coach Fisher a question….
Hey Titans fans. I know you’re frustrated with the Titans season opening loss and you’ve probably got a lot of questions. Well, YOU can ask coach Fisher question. Just submit it to sports@wkrn.com and we’ll pick 3 questions for coach Fisher to answer. The first show is this Friday at 7pm on news 2. We will actually tape the show Thursday night at 7pm. You can be a part of the show by going to Buffalo Billiards. Joe Dubin and a Titan will be there along with great food and fun. I’ll be in studio with coach Fisher. I look forward to passing your questions along to coach Fisher.

………….The Jeff Fisher Show…
Everyone wants to know why the Jeff Fisher show is now on Friday’s as opposed to where it has been the last 8 years, on Monday night.
Here is the deal…..We were all set to go on Monday night again. The job that John Dwyer did wth Coach Fisher was second to none, seeing all of the awards they had won for the show. So the new crew was all set to step right in to some very big shoes but then ESPN gets Monday night Football because ABC had dropped it. We couldn’t compete against Monday Night Football cause it was starting at 6 and there is some rule that we can’t do the show while Pro Football is going on.
Our next alternative was Tuesday night at 7. But ABC wouldn’t let us pre-empt Dancing With The Stars which is a huge show and a huge ratings coup for ABC. Then we had to work with the coaches schedule and we will tape the show and show it on Friday nights at 7.
Coach Fisher and Chris Stout will be in the studio in a pretty cool virtual set. Joe Dubin will be downtown at Buffalo Billiards with a player from the Titans, a high school team of the week and their band and parents and a ton of people.
Believe us, we know people will be at high school games, in fact we will be out covering about a dozen high school teams so we know what you are talking about. It was and is, not our call to do this. We have to take the slots where we can get them.
So if you have TiVo or DVR, set it to the show and watch it when you get home. I promise you, it will be very good……
Thanks..
Titans starting QB….Who should start?
Hey everyone! I am Chris Stout, the new Sports Director at channel 2. I am so pumped to be in Middle Tennessee, getting to bring you all of the highlights from the Pro’s to the PeeWee’s…..
But let me ask you this. Who do you think should start at QB this Sunday against the Jets? I’d love to know……….
I think the TItans should start Kerry Collins. Let Vince Young play a few series just to feel the regular season heat, but Collins should start the first couple of games. He’s experienced, but more importantly he’s got the ability to lead this team until Vince is ready.
With all due respect to Billy Volek, you don’t get to start in the NFL by “doing your time.” To my knowledge Billy never stepped up and took the reigns. You must do that to be successful NFL quarterback. Look at all the winning quarterbacks in the NFL. They are leaders who don’t screw around. Unless Billy changes his tone on and off the field, Kerry Collins will take the first snap Sunday against the Jets. I’d love to know what you think.
Have a great Labor day!
Chris Stout
