……….Christmas wishes…
Some Christmas wishes (at least in my world)
Jeff Fisher: An extension on his contract. Possibly a 5 year deal, because this team is on the move. Now if those pesky going to the Cowboys as their head coach rumors would just die.
Vince Young: (This is actually from Vince) Thanking God for everything he has given me. Amen.
Travis Henry: A contract extension as well.
Nashville Predators: For people around Middle Tennessee to come see one game, just one game, and you will be hooked. There is no reason that the GEC should not be sold out on the weekends.
Vandy football: Simple. A bowl game.
Tennessee Football: Simple. To not, not go to a bowl game. Ever again.
Vandy basketball: Well, after kicking our cameraman out of practice last week for showing up early, I am not sure there are enough wishes to make this season one to remember.
MTSU: That they could clone Rick Stockstill.
If you could think of any others, post ‘em…

Well, here we are… one win short of a playoff spot and who are we behind? The Jets. And why are we behind the Jets? Because Jeff Fisher, who normally is an awesome coach, made the decision just before the start of the season to sign Kerry Collins and snub Billy Volek. Fisher let his pride get the best of him in the very first game against the Jets. Instead of putting Volek in he stuck with Collins and that sealed the deal — that guaranteed our loss to the Jets while the guy who could have saved the game had to stand there and endure it. It was as if Fisher wanted to lose out of spite for Volek. I thought for sure Fisher would have realized that Volek needed to come in and I was stunned and heart broken that he was so stubborn to stick with Collins for not one, not two but three games! We could have even won with Vince Young in for the rest of the Jets game and for a moment it looked like he was going to get the chance. But now, it comes back around to haunt us. Fisher could have been coach of the year, we could be in the playoffs and things could have been better. That was the biggest snafu of Fishers career that I know of. Now it’s just Karma. I’ll be at the game Sunday, I’m still a fan and I’m still a fan of Fisher, but what he did was wrong and the way he handled it was wrong and he should admit that. I think they are slighting Chris Brown for the same reason. I think we could have done better against Jacksonville if we had kept Brown activated and let one of the other two guys continue to rest and recover. But Chris Brown wants to be traded and why shouldn’t he? He’s a starting caliber running back who just wants his chance to play, that’s all! Same with Volek. And both those guys deserve to start and should be treated with respect — it’s got to be frustrating for them. But it seems we’d rather lose than play anybody that wants out. Like my Dad used to say “it’s like cutting off your nose to spite your face.”

ASK THE COACH…
In the Jacksonville game Travis LaBoy was showing a little leg. In the Buffalo game he again showed a little leg, though not as much as the week before. Is this some kind of rules violation, and who is responsible for policing this? Will Travis be subject to any fines or penalies?

Joe, I totally agree with you on the extension for Coach Fisher. After leading this team to at least 8 wins, when they should have had only 4 or 5, is pretty remarkable.

Joe, even though they lost, big shout out to MTSU and what they accomplished. Going to a bowl game is monster, just ask the ones who never get to go.

I think the job that Stockstill did at MTSU is nothing short of incredible. Taking a team, taking an attitude and turning it all around and getting them to a bowl game and a share of the Sun Belt was very good.
