……..Ok, A little worried now…

Back on February 6th, the Nashville Predators were coming off a big home win over Anaheim and were on a roll. They went north to play the Pittsburgh Penguins, one of the NHL’s hottest teams at the time. The Preds didn’t play that bad but they didn’t play that well. The Penguins have the best player in hockey Sydney Crosby who showed some great moves that night.

Nathan, our sports Producer and I were with the Preds on that road trip and we remember the mood in the locker room very well. The Preds looked shell shocked. Since that game, I have seen that same look in the locker room more times than I can count.

Losing the last two games at home, to the Red Wings and to the Stars, is not good. The Preds needed both of those games but instead are reeling a little bit. They have 3 games left and if they just focus on those instead of winning the division or what Detroit is doing, they might be ok.

The good news? They are in the playoffs and as we all know, once you get in, anything can happen. Just ask Edmonton last year, as a 8th seed, upset the Red Wings in round one.

But these last two games have to leave the Preds and their fans, just a little worried.

….Keep hope alive Preds fans…

From the talk all around today, you would think that the Preds season is over, done with, no more. They lost a game, yes, a big game to the Red Wings, but they are still heading to the playoffs, with either a 4 seed, or a 1 seed and even a 2 seed. There are 4 games left, they are tied with Detroit and if they get one more point than Detroit, they win the division.

Just because they lost does not mean all is lost. (Man, what twist of words.) Anyhoo, there are worse spots to be in, like the Flyers or the Blue Jackets but this team is going to the playoffs and the Red Wings coach had a great quote after the game Thursday, he said it doesn’t matter what seed, as long as you get in.

If you are going to the game on Saturday night, expect some great fireworks because Jordin Tootoo returns from his 5 game suspension. The team that the Preds were playing when he got suspended? Yep, the Dallas Stars who the Preds play Saturday night.

Good times indeed.

Detroit has Preds #……..

Everytime the Preds have a chance to take control of the Central the Red Wings come to town and beat them. Detroit won 2-1 tonight at Nashville Arena. The win gives the Red Wings first place in the West and Central even though both teams are tied with 105 points. Detroit has the tiebreaker.

But tonight is not about one loss. It is clear the Red Wings have the Preds number. They have won four straight against the Preds and won the regular season series 6-2. The Red Wings are not a team the Preds want to see in the playoffs. It really is the only team the Preds have had trouble with all year. Right now they would play in the 2nd round of the Western Conference Playoffs and Detroit would have home ice. But right now, that doesn’t seem to matter.

Do you think the Preds can beat the Red Wings in a 7 game series? At this point, I’d have to say no.

10 Days………..

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said today he hopes to have a decision on Pacman Jone’s punishment within the next 10 days. I won’t bore you with all the details. But I am curious. How many of you are sick and tired of listening to Pacman talk?

A decision can’t come soon enough for the media, the fans, and certainly the Titans.

Kats College Night…. Save Big $$$$

Here’s a great reason to see a Nashville Kats game.

NASHVILLE KATS TO HOST
COLLEGE NIGHT…….Call 615-321-3211 for tickets. You can save big bucks.

Nashville, Tenn.–March 21, 2007—On Saturday, April 7, 2007, the Nashville Kats will be hosting a college night on the town as the Kats face off against the defending ArenaBowl Champions, The Chicago Rush. Students will have the opportunity to purchase specially priced tickets ($10 tickets with a $22 value) through participating student organizations from March 27 through April 5. They will also be invited to pre-game and post-game parties hosted by Buffalo Billiards, which will include visits by the Music City Kittens, special discounts, prizes including a 42” flat screen TV provided Best Buy, and other surprises. If your group would like to participate, please call Shelly Mullins at (615) 321-3211.

In 2007, the fast-paced in-your-face action of Arena Football got even more exciting when the AFL combine forces with ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC. An agreement was reached to televise prime-time Monday night games creating a year-round football experience. As a direct result of this, the fan base is increasing rapidly. The Kats realize the important role that our college youth will play in building their fan base and have created this opportunity in an effort to introduce them to Arena Football.

Preds win…..Lady Vols back to the Final Four…

The Preds knocked off the Oilers tonight 4-3. A win is a win this time of year and the Preds take over sole possession of 1st in the West with 105 points. Detroit is 2 points back and coming to town Thursday.

Meanwhile the Lady Vols thumped Ole Miss 98-62 in the Dayton Regional Final. They advance to their 17th Final Four and will play North Carolina in Cleveland April 1st.

Pacman to meet with the Commissioner…….

This might be the first sign that Pacman may spared a little bit. Instead of getting booted for a 2 seasons, he may only have to sit out one (This is my opinion). According to the following report Pacman and Roger Goodell will meet next week. I’ve spoken with the NFL and they will not confirm or deny the meeting. The Titans say they do not have knowledge of the meeting.

By BARRY WILNER
AP Football Writer
PHOENIX (AP) - Adam “Pacman” Jones will meet with NFL
commissioner Roger Goodell on April 3 to discuss the Tennessee
Titans cornerback’s run-ins with the law.
A person within the league familiar with Jones’ situation told
The Associated Press on Tuesday that a hearing will occur next
Tuesday. That person requested anonymity because the hearing has
not been announced.
Goodell is unlikely to make any decision on a suspension or fine
at that time, because the commissioner’s new, stricter player
conduct policy has not been completed.
The hearing was first reported by the NFL Network.
Titans coach Jeff Fisher said Tuesday he has not spoken with
Jones since just after Las Vegas incident Vegas “when we helped
facilitate the first meeting with police.”
“He’s very disappointed with what’s happened,” Fisher said.
“He thinks he let the city, the fans and his teammates and the
organization down.”
On Monday, Las Vegas police recommended prosecutors file a
felony charge of coercion and misdemeanor charges of battery and
threat against Jones, stemming from a Feb. 19 strip club fight and
shooting.
The NFL confirmed last month that officials were reviewing
Jones’ off-field conduct, which has included 10 incidents where he
was interviewed by police.
Fisher, for one, fully supports a stricter NFL conduct policy.
“Our organization is very much in favor of the commissioner’s
involvement,” he said. “We’re very much in tune with him. He has
a plan and is determined, as are all of us, to minimize, if not
eliminate this.”
While Jones awaits possible charges in the Las Vegas case, a
Tennessee prosecutor said Tuesday he will revive a criminal case
against Jones if the Titans cornerback is charged in Nevada.
In January, Jones struck a deal with Rutherford County
prosecutors on misdemeanor charges of public intoxication and
disorderly conduct. He was given a chance to avoid jail and have
the counts expunged from his record if he stayed out of trouble
until July 5.
“In the event we determine he hasn’t …, we would file a
motion and ask that the case be reinstated to the court docket,”
District Attorney General William Whitesell told the AP.
Jones also has charges pending from a February 2006 Georgia
case.
Fisher expressed his disappointment that Jones’ troubles have
stolen the spotlight from the Titans’ turnaround on the field.
“With the off-field things, it’s been a challenge,” he said.
“From the standpoint of when it’s the first thing discussed in the
morning and the last in the evening, it is (draining). It’s taken
the limelight, and it’s been difficult. As much as we want to talk
about it, it’s difficult to get info. To voice the organization’s
true feelings on the matter, we need to get all the information.”
Goodell said Monday that discipline will be stepped up under the
new player conduct policy, and he hoped to have it in place next
month. He’s considering making disciplinary decisions before the
April 28-29 draft.
Teams, as well as individual players, could be subjected to
punishment or sanctions.
“It’s a complicated issue, and there are no simple answers,”
Goodell said. “We’re going to hold the clubs more accountable. If
the clubs are providing the right resources that have a positive
impact on personal conduct, we will take that into account.”

I can’t imagine Pacman ever wearing a Titans uniform again….

Here we go again. Pacman Jones is in some serious trouble. Las Vegas police have recommended that the local District Attorney file 1 felony and 2 misdemeanor charges stemming from the night club shooting last month.

The Titans released this statement a few minutes ago:

Statement from the Tennessee Titans

Regarding Adam Jones

“The club is deeply disturbed that the alleged conduct of one of its players has resulted in felony charges in one state and accusations of felony conduct in another state.

Since the NFL is preparing to introduce a new player conduct policy and since criminal charges and investigations are in progress, comment or speculation would be inappropriate. The club is currently reviewing its options with respect to the player.”

I don’t know about you, but this has arrivederci written underneath the official comment.

Here is what I think will happen:

The NFL will come out with their new player conduct policy in April. The Policy will be severe with unprecidented punishment for repeat offenders. The Titans and the NFL will “unofficially” be on the same page and Titans will release Pacman and cut a deal with with the NFL so they do not have to take the salary cap hit that comes with letting Jones go. Because the NFL wants to make an example of Pacman the league will suspend him for the entire 2007 season and possibly 2-4 games for 2008. They are fed up with all the off the field incidents and they will not get anyone’s attention until they drop the hammer.

I also won’t be surprised if the Titans sue Jones for part of his signing bonus.

I will be shocked if he ever plays another down in a Titan uniform.

How about you? What kind of punishment should be handed down?

Pacman Indicted, New Conduct Policy Delayed

Police said Monday that they are seeking felony
and misdemeanor charges against Tennessee Titan Adam “Pacman”
Jones and two other people in a triple shooting at a Las Vegas
strip club last month.
Jones, 23, a cornerback, would face a felony charge of coercion
and misdemeanor threat and battery charges stemming from the 5 a.m.
shooting at the club on Feb. 19, police Lt. George Castro said.

Also NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said today that a new conduct policy will not be completed this week at the owners meetings and that he hopes a stricter plan will be in place by next month. Disciplinary actions could come down on players like Pacman Jones before the draft, which is April 28th.

At this time the Tennessee Titans have no comment on the charges involving Pacman. The Titans brass have told News 2 Sports in the past that they will not comment on the situation until they completed their own investigation and gathered all the facts in this case. The Titans will probably not comment until these charges are dropped or Pacman is convicted. Remember Pacman has not been convicted of anything at this time. I think it’s safe to say that Pacman Jones will not be allowed back with his team until this case is resolved.

Pacman’s Future Could Be Decided This Week

Titans Cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones could find out by the end of the week if he will be allowed to play in the 2007 season. The NFL’s owners meeting began today in Phoenix and new NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will probably try to make a big splash in his first full league meeting.
It’s been said time and time again that Pacman is a great talent on the field, off of it…well that’s a different story. The 3rd year pro has done some good things away from the team, those have just been overshadowed by the constant negative publicity he keeps bringing on himself by his actions or being at the wrong place at the wrong time. It’s hard for me to imagine that here’s a man doing what a number of people can only dream of and constantly keeps endangering his future.
They say you reap what you sow! Well, even though Pac has never been convicted of anything…a verdict could come down quickly!

What do you think is going to happen? Should Pacman be suspended for the entire 2007 season?
