Arrrrrggggghhhhh!!!!
Some things I get, some things I don’t. Jevon Kearse getting arrested for D-U-I is something I can NOT understand and frankly, it drives me nuts!!!
I have several mottos that I live by in life, one of them is, “it’s not hard to not get arrested”.
I know, it’s a double negative, but I don’t care because it’s true. It’s just not. It takes an effort. How many times have you walked thru life and said to yourself, “man, I wish I could do that, but I’d go to jail”? Never, if you’re normal.
Along those lines, this took an effort. Number one, he stayed out until almost 5:00 in the morning. Is that a crime? No, but now it’s time for another old saying, “nothing good happens after midnight”. If you’re on the road at 4:30 AM you are immediately a target for police, not many of us are headed to work at 4:30 Sunday morning are we?
It also took the decision to drive. He could have handed over the keys. He could have hailed a cab. He could have hired a limo (last I saw he just signed a 2-year deal worth 6-million dollars). Worst of all he could have just called for a ride. The Titans have no interest in players getting a D-U-I and are more than willing to arrange a ride, no matter the time, no matter the place.
OK, I understand he hasn’t been convicted of anything yet and being out at a bar until 4:00 is not against the law, however why even be in the position? That’s the big question, why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Ok, no matter how many times I ask it doesn’t seem to answer itself. Here’s the only thing I can come up with, we all make mistakes. Jevon made his and now he has to live with it, but how many examples do we have to have before someone gets the message?
Polo, it is more than a Cologne...
Great event taking place this weekend down in Franklin and if you have never been, it is pretty cool. The annual Chukkers for Charity Polo match is an annual event that benefits two great local organizations, Saddle up and the Rochelle Center.
If you have never been, you gotta go because this isn’t just some amateur event, these are some of the best polo players in the world.

My Name Is Cory
If you’ve ever seen the show “My Name Is Earl” you know all about karma. The show is premised on good things happening to good people. Some people believe in it, some don’t. I do, that’s why I keep telling Vanderbilt Baseball Coach Tim Corbin his day is coming.
He has completely revamped Vanderbilt baseball in a very, very short period of time. The Commodores were an SEC doormat for years and their facility was an absolute joke. Now they’re among the most respected teams in the country and while the team has changed Corbin has not. Always gracious, always polite, always accomodating.
Still he’s never led the Commodores to Omaha for the College World Series and that is a fact that eats at his soul on a daily, no, probably an hourly basis. I’m not sure if he’s still over the disappointment of their 2007 loss to Michigan.
I had the opportunity to cover Ray Tanner when he took over the South Carolina Gamecocks in the 90’s. They were in similar shape and went thru a similar transformation with similar heartbreak and Tanner just like Corbin is one heck of a nice guy.
It happens and one day it did for Tanner, after a few close calls his Gamecocks finally made it and after that made it again and again. That’s been my message to Coach Corbin, keep what you’re doing, stay who you are and one day it will happen and once it does it all feels better, it makes the future a whole lot easier and trip number 2 will come a whole lot faster.
His name is Tim… One day he’ll put the right team on the field and Karma will take care of the rest.
