Number One For A Day
Congratulations to Bruce Pearl and his Tennessee Volunteers for an absolutely amazing day and week in Knoxville. Down to just 6 scholarship players the Vols routed UNC-Charlotte then
stunned top ranked Kansas Sunday in Knoxville.
Doing the right thing isn’t always the easiest thing to do, but Pearl and Tennessee appear well on their way. Pearl dismissed Tyler Smith from the team for his role in the arrest of four U-T basketball players on drug and gun charges. Cameron Tatum, Brian Williams and Melvin Goins remain suspended and likely will not return this season if it all.
Sometimes doing the right thing can also pay off. I didn’t appear possible but this team
actually looks better now. They had walk-ons play 45 minutes against Kansas! Not against
Lenoir-Rhyne or Neverheardofyou State, Kansas! They played 45 hard, inspired minutes and
the 6 scholarship players played with a renewed passion and a chemistry we haven’t seen
in 2 years.
Let this be a lesson to everyone, do the right thing, the results just may surprise you!!!
