………Having a Good Time….

For those who don’t know, every Thursday night, we tape TITANS ON 2 WITH JEFF FISHER down at Buffalo Billiards on Second Ave. We tape delay it and it’s shown on Friday at 7. Each week we have a high school team of the week, two Titan cheerleaders and a Titan player.

Thursday night’s taping was one of the most fun shows we have done for several reasons. Smyrna High School was our team of the week and they brought a ton of people and were loud and proud. The cheerleaders were funny and insightful and were great guests. But the award for making the show goes to Keith Bulluck, the special player guest. Not because he was on tv, but what he did afterwards.

I asked Keith if he minded to stay around after the show and sign autographs and take pictures. Some players say yes, but you can tell they don’t want too. Not only did Keith say yes, but he took at least 50 pictures. Signed a ton of autographs, waited around until every single kid had a picture, had an autograph or something. One of the band members asked Keith if he would strap a big drum around and take a picture with the band. He took 8 pictures, one for each person on the drum corps.

All too often we get caught up talking about Pacman or something else that just rubs us the wrong away about professional athletes. Seeing how he went out of his way to say something to every single kid and take all of those pictures and sign all of those autographs was very refreshing.

For about 50 kids on Thursday night, their new favorite Titan, probably forever, will be number 53, Keith Bulluck.

Make sure and check out the show Friday night at 7 on good ole channel 2. And as always, if you want to ask Coach Fisher a question, just leave it on here. He answers 3 of them each week.

Pac-Man Out Against Jacksonville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee Titans second-year cornerback Pacman Jones, whose legal problems have overshadowed his progress on the field, was suspended by coach Jeff Fisher on Wednesday for one game, and will not play in Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fisher said after practice that Jones also will be fined what he called “significant financial … considerations.” Jones also faces potential punishment from the NFL for violating its personal conduct policy.

Fisher said Jones was very concerned and will make a statement later this week.

“This is the defining moment in his career,” Fisher said.

Fisher strongly hinted Monday that team-administered disciplinary action was likely forthcoming after Jones was cited over the weekend for a misdemeanor assault charge, stemming from allegations that he spit in the face of a female student from Tennessee State during a private party at a local nightclub early last Thursday morning.

Jones reported for practice Wednesday, but was told by Fisher to leave the building, and apprised of the suspension. Fisher announced the action following practice, saying that the sanction was the result not just of the latest incident involving Jones, but of “a continuing problem away from the field.”

The latest police problem for Jones, the Titans’ top draft pick in 2005 and the sixth choice overall, occurred before last week’s 28-22 victory over Houston in which he intercepted his first pass and returned a punt 53 yards for a touchdown.

He wasn’t cited for misdemeanor assault until the day before the game, and Fisher, who called the incident “very disturbing,” took extra time to discuss how to punish Jones. Fisher already had suspended linebacker Robert Reynolds from last week’s game for a domestic violence incident.

Krystal Webb, 21, had Jones cited for an incident at a private party last Thursday at a nightclub. The police report states that Jones became verbally abusive and “spit a huge amount of mucus on Ms. Webb’s face and hair, which she preserved for evidence.”

Jones is scheduled to be booked Nov. 17 on the charge.

This is the second time Jones has been accused of spitting on a woman at a club this year. He was arrested at a Murfreesboro nightclub on misdemeanor charges of public drunkenness and disorderly conduct hours after the Titans broke camp, and Fisher did not play him in an exhibition.

He is due in court on Jan. 11 on those charges. Charges Jones faced from a July 2005 incident at a club were dismissed earlier this year.

Blue Raiders Nickson BIG TIME!

Blue Raider nation knew about Damon Nickson before this week. Now the nation knows about the Junior from Milton, Florida. Nickson picked off four passes Saturday in MTSU’s win at Louisiana-Lafayette. He returned one of them for a touchdown. Did you catch that I said 4 INTERCEPTIONS IN ONE GAME? That is as rare as a double eagle on the golf course and just one shy of the national record. For his efforts Nickson earned a pair of national awards. The Walter Camp and the Bronco Nagurski defensive player of the week. Nickson joins elite company and puts MTSU on the national map with his lights out performance. Previous winners of Nagurski award this year are from schools like Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Florida State, Auburn, and Texas. That is pretty good company.

ASK THE COACH TITANS 28 TEXANS 22

The Tennessee Titans didn’t play their best ball offensively, but because of an oustanding defensive effort by the defensive unit the Titans earned their second straight victory. The defense forced 5 turnovers, including a fumble recovery by Tony Brown, who rumbled 40 yards to give the Titans a 14-3 lead. Pac-Man Jones snatched his first interception of his career and returned a punt for a touchdown. Vince Young wasn’t perfect, but effective rushing for a 20 yard score for the first points of the ball game, while connecting with Bobby Wade for a 20 yard TD strike.
If you have a question for Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher just post your comment below. The Titans will travel to Jacksonville next Sunday for another divisional showdown.

Titans Building Confidence & Momentum

After five well needed days off the Tennessee Titans returned to the practice field feeling rejuvenated and full of energy.

Slowly but surely they’ve been doing the little things to get better every week. This Sunday’s home game against divisional rival Houston will give the Titans a good idea of just how far they have come. Two wins in a row could do a lot for this team’s confidence.

Sunday’s game also marks the first game for Vince Young against his hometown and the team that passed over him with number one pick in the 2006 NFL Draft.

Vince and the rest of the team look at the game as just the next one on the schedule, but you have to know deep down inside nothing would make Vince Young happier (and Titans owner Bud Adams) than to get a win against the Texans.

Also look for Titans Defensive Tackle Robaire Smith to have a big game. The Texans released Robaire because of salary cap reasons. It will be an interesting match-up for sure this Sunday at LP Field with plenty of story lines.

The only problem is if the Titans don’t come away with a win, everything else doesn’t matter.

Big Orange and Gamecocks

This Saturday UT travels to Columbia, SC where Steve Spurrier awaits. Spurrier makes a lot of Vols fans tremble with fear. He knows how to beat Phil Fulmer and he’s done it more than anybody else. Coach Fulmer would never admit it, but you have to think this game means more to him personally than any other. And once again Fulmer and Spurrier meet with a lot on the line. The SEC is still up in the air. But you can’t afford another loss if you want a crack at the SEC title game.

What do you think. Can Fulmer beat Spurrier when it really counts Saturday? Or will Spurrier spoil another season with so much promise?

Chase heating up

Alright NASCAR fans it is time to turn up the heat. The Chase is on and we’re headed down the backstretch. With four races to go this is anybody’s championship to win. Eight drivers are within 100 points of the lead. That is unheard of in the new Chase format. Think Matt Kenseth has the edge with a 36 point lead? Forget about it. Ask Jeff Burton about a cushy lead. Burton lost a 45 point lead and fell all the way to 5th in the standings. He’s now 48 points out of first place.

This weekend the Chase heads to Atlanta. Guess who’s been great in Atlanta? Jimmie Johnson. That’s my pick to win the title. JJ has managed to clean up a mess from the first half of the Chase. He’s now 41 points back in 3rd place. I am still holding out hope that Junior can win his first title. However, the 8 team is making too many mistakes on and off the track. Bad pit calls and silly mistakes by Junior will cost this team a title.

I can’t wait for the Chase to come to ABC and WKRN next year.
